What Is A Float Plan?
It is Information regarding a trip on water.
A float plan includes a description of your boat,
who is on board, a description of the safety equipment you are carrying,
where you expect to be, and when you expect to be there..most
important what time you wish to be considered overdue. When
you arrive at your destination, cancel your float plan. Be sure to always
file a float plan whenever you leave the dock. Be it in a yacht, speed
boat or a canoe.

Once you have registered at Float Plan Registration,
log in and record your family members and equipment. Then when you are
ready to sail log in to the trip-filing site and enter your information.
You may update or cancel your trip at any time.
NOTE: If you do not cancel your Float Plan by the overdue
time, our search center does a series of checks attempting
to locate you.
If our search center cannot find you we immediately notify
the authorities, giving them correct details.
